Welcome to the NBS Wiki
This section of our web site is where our members and web site visitors can create and edit numismatic information for the benefit of all.
Getting started
To add information to one of the sections, click on the link and look for the “Log in / Create Account” link at the top of that section’s home page. If you don’t already have an NBS Wiki account, click the “Create an Account” link, where you’ll give yourself a username and password. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide. Click on the link in the email message to confirm.
Once logged in, you can click on the “Edit” link on any page; you will then enter an editor where you can type or paste your new text. For examples, locate a similar page on the site and edit it to see the detail behind it. To create a link to a new page, enter the link text within double square brackets, such as Click here for xyz. For complete instructions on how to edit the Wiki, see:
Numismatic Literature Types
There are several types of numismatic literature. The main types are books, periodicals, catalogues, and ephemera.
Numismatic Bibliography
This bibliography is a work in progress. Our goal here is very simple: to identify major English-language references in a variety of numismatic disciplines. Please note: most standard references are written in the language of the country with which the reference is concerned (e.g., the major standard references on German numismatics are written in the German language, not in English). Moreover, many of the standard references on ANCIENT and MEDIEVAL numismatics are written in German or French, not in English. If you are an advanced collector, or if you are seeking references in a language other than English, you are strongly encouraged to visit the LIBRARY CATALOG search engine of the American Numismatic Society and the American Numismatic Association's Dwight N. Manley Numismatic Library's Search.
